Workshop on “Unmanned Vehicles (UxV’s), Systems & Technologies”

On Thursday 31 October 2019, a workshop on “Unmanned Vehicles (UxV’s), Systems & Technologies” was held at the Hellenic Armed Forces Officers’ Club.

The Workshop organized by GDDIA, within the framework of the “National Defence Industrial Strategy”, with the participation of representatives from the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, the Defence Industry, Academia and Research Centers.

General Staffs presented topics concerning respective operational requirements issues, ongoing international programmes and regulatory frameworks. Furthermore,in the view also of the forthcoming funding by the European Defence Fund, representatives of the Defense Industry and the Academic-Research Community, with relevant activity and experience, presented technological opportunities, developments and conclusions from their participation inrelated research, technology and development programmes.

The Leadership of the Armed Forces along with representatives of the Defence Industry, as well as Academicians-Researchers active in the field of unmanned systems and related subsystems / technologies, attended the workshop.

The aim of the event is to facilitate contacts as a basis for further national collaborations in the field of unmanned vehicles research and technology, which belongs to the critical areas of interest, according to the “National Defence Industrial Strategy”.

The Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos and the General Director of the GDDIA Vice Admiral (ret.) Kyriakos Kyriakidis, opened the event.
