Greek – Cypriot Cooperation for the European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP)

On September 18, 2019 the GDDIA General Director Mr. Kyriakos Kyriakidis welcomed the Permanent Secretary of the Republic of Cyprus MoD Mr. George Georghiou, at the GDDIA premises. During the meeting a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the two MoDs for the cooperation on the support of defence products development, co-funded by the European Union; aiming to the enhancement of the defence technological and industrial base of the two countries.
The aforementioned funding possibility is foreseen for the first time in the framework of the newly established European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP) 2019-20, acting as preparatory of the European Defence Fund (EDF) to be effective after 2021. It refers to project proposals submitted by consortia of European entities with the support of Member States, which eventually will be selected for funding through tenders at European level.
